as this is an element often used in theme making i thought it would be good a tutorial about how to make analog clocks using photoshop
i wil use the same disclaimer i have used in my first tutorial How To Make A Navi Pane In Photoshop
I am no pro in Photoshop and all that I am sharing now are the results of reading hundreds of tutorials (thanks to all that created them).
I decided that instead of linking members to other sites that we should have our own here.
Before starting, I am making a request to the skilled MMC members to share their tutorials here too.

Step 1

open a new document
i have chosed sizes 500x500 for better view but you can start with a smaller size
background transparent
Posted Image
Step 2

take your Ellipse Tool or using shortcut U and make a circle
color #b2b2b2
Posted Image
go to blending options by double clicking on the layer 1 or right click >blending options and make the following settings
Posted ImagePosted Image
Posted Image
Step 3

duplicate layer number 1
go to edit >transform>scale
Hold Alt +Shift and scale down the duplicated layer
clear the effects
take the Paint Bucket Tool and make the circle color #e4e4e4
Posted Image
go to Blending options and set it as i did
Posted Image

Posted Image
Step 4

duplicate layer 2 and scale it down like we did previously
again do not forget so clear layer style
use this blending options for the third layer
Posted ImagePosted Image
Posted Image

Step 5

hold CTRL and click on the first layer to make a selection
make a new layer over the first one and chose gradient tool
pay attention to the following settings of the gradient tool
the gradient to be set to linear
foreground to transparent
reverse not activated
if all this ok drag from up to down
Posted Image
Step 6

take Rectangle tool and draw a shape like i did
color used #9d9d9d
Posted Image
Duplicate this shape and move the duplicates as i did
Posted Image

you will have to do this several times depending hoe many hours you want to have on your clock 4 or 12
Posted ImagePosted Image

Step 7

duplicate one of the circle layers and scale it down
Posted Image
use color #a9a9a9 to fill it
go to blending options and add this ones
Posted ImagePosted Image
Posted Image

that should be all
of course all this were my choices in colors you can play with whatever color you want like i did

Scale down - if You hold Alt+Shift you'll be able to change size of desired layer into the middle of it.
Clear effect - simple turn off all effects.

scale option is used to resize a layer

-Hold Alt +Shift and scale down the duplicated layer

Hold down these two keys to perform a scaling "operation"

-clear the effects

means to click on that eye that is under layer on layers palette
this will disable all the effects applied on that layer previously
tell me if you need to go further
the rest seems clearly explained but waiting for your reply
