The assignment: A Tribute to Michael Jackson
We were all affected in some way by the music of Michael Jackson.
This competition will NOT be used to discuss controversies surrounding his life and death. Here we will simply pay tribute to his genius.


How to enter?
Do some in depth google searches to obtain good quality images or wallpapers for your theme.
Photobucket is also doing a Michael Jackson Tribute and are getting their members to upload their favourite MJ images. At the moment there are well over 10,000 uploads. Michael Jackson Images @ Pb.
It would be fitting to add ringtones to your uploads if you like, but not necessary.
I have links for ringtone making in my signature, and am a fairly good ringtone maker myself, so let me know if you'd like help.
As well, NatureSpiral has uploaded some nice MJ tones in her gallery recently and has offered to take MJ tone requests in the tone section.
Having a ringtone, or not, is completely optional. This will NOT matter in judging.
Please keep tones in the area of a 30 second length.

If you consult Si's Skills List for wallpaper or ringtone assistance, be sure to give your partner credit in your theme info.

Enter as many times as you like, but remember you must select the entry you wish to go up for judging or leave it up to fate. Strive to create a complete and functional theme for any handset you wish to theme for. You can even theme for several different handsets if you like. Just have fun remembering this legendary artist!

We normally ask that all entries be original themes created for THIS competition.
However, I've noticed a few members have already made some MJ themes. The ONE TIME exception to this rule will be as follows:
If you have made an MJ theme SINCE his death on June 25th, and uploaded it ONLY TO MMC, you may enter it in this competition.
ALL entries should be posted ONLY to MMC until after a winner is announced.
Do NOT use art from deviantART without the blessing of the artist. Thanks!

Please use a proper upload title, so people can easily find your entry in the future.
Example: Michael Jackson: Thriller -or- Michael & Janet Jackson: Scream

Provide a link to your entry in this thread.
If you don't post the link here then I won't know you've entered! Communication is key!

This contest closes on JULY 31st, and a new one opens on AUGUST 1st.
Please: Allow yourself time to get in under the deadline! With prizes at stake it's the only fair thing we can do for everyone.

I think this theme topic is very 'fitting' and a wonderful idea Raven_Voy is a big MJ fan, so hopefully she'll be able to join us for the comp this month and produce (as always) a wonderful unique theme!

That is a very nice theme Sunny.
But I am afraid that unless you can gain and prove permission from USER NAME REMOVED over at deviantART, it is not eligible for competition.

I post this publicly because it is clearly in the rules, and all participants need to be aware of the seriousness of this.
I must ask you all to check deviantART when you find wallpapers on the internet that are obviously someone's art.

deviantART is very gracious to allow us to use our account there to award prizes to our members.
In return we will show the utmost respect to their artists.

If ______ allows use of his work to you, he can send a note to MMC's deviantART account stating that he has given crazysun321 permission to use it. He can also choose to allow anyone to use it, but you should all refrain from doing so unless he posts this information on his preview page.

Perhaps it wasn't found ON dAR, and that is of no matter. You are responsible for taking images such as this seriously, and going to dAR and doing a search to see if it is indeed a work of their artists. You might have to search several pages deep. So look well, and know that Ben and I are always looking too. It reflects well on you when you take the responsibility seriously, and do not make and submit the theme until you have gained permission.

This particular piece was about halfway down on the first page of dAR hits when 'Michael Jackson' was entered in their search engine. Shame, shame. You put together good looking themes, don't let things such as this taint your reputation. deviantARTISTS take their work being used by others VERY seriously.

thanks tricks im sure everyone knows how big M J was/is and there is millions of images out on the tinter web thing

but everyone please take note of tricks post every theme that comes into the comp WILL be tested and the images checked over at deviantART

if anyone using deviantART images with the blessing of the artist can you please put their name in your post to credit
their work

@tRICKSY......It would be great if you can remove the screenshot too.I found this pic over google and not from Deviantart.So I didnot know to which artiste this belongs.

However I will make a picture of my own and make a theme with that.

Till then if the author wants then I apologize for not knowing the original author .

No Intentions of taking away credit from his work.

If you do get permission to use the image, you may enter this theme in the comp.

I've finished my MJ theme but have got to go to work now, so will try and upload it tonight or tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see everyone's entries

Just a side note
if you have found an image and not sure who it belongs to there is a great tool i have beeen using
it might be a lil' tedious but it gives great results
