For Nokia theme creation

You can download Carbide UI from ForumNokia
(Direct link to the Carbide v3.3 UI page is here: Carbide v3.3.
You'll have to register there and fill out some forms to download anything from there though.

Be warned:Though Ive never used this soft before Ive been told by others unless you know what you're doing, its not easy.

For Sony Ericsson theme creation

You can download the S.E theme creation tool on >>this page<<.
Many S.E phones are supported.

Online theme creation of themes for Nokia and SE phones

For an easy way to make themes for SE and Nokia phones check out Ownskin
There you can make themes online easily and for free too.

Good luck

carbide ui is best used if you also have an image editor (ie photoshop, paintshop pro, etc.), vector drawing (ie illustrator, coreldraw, etc.).

oh yeah, if your pc isnt at least 1gig memory dont expect it to run at fast pace, its quite a resource hogger.

is there anything else other than ownskin?
I tried carbide, and yes, it's painfully slow and very difficult for a novice like me.
So, is there an alternative?
PS, it's for my nokia n70.

Thanks in advance,
Deus.

Thx for the info. Time to learn :pinch:

I got Carbide and made a theme nice and easy but it's pointless. . .

Soon as you make it and when you package it into an sis file you have to sign the themes so they will work. Sure I could sign it just for myself the hacked way but how can i make themes on carbide and share them with the community of mcc

This will either be extremely cool and I'll upload a gazillion super cool themes, OR more likely I'll completely mess up and create the worst crap anyone has ever seen  !! Wish me luck...

Is there a support thread for users with this program?

I've found it doesnt work with Windows Vista. The specs on page say nothing about supporting Vista. When i load it says i need to check a non-existant directory for an error log.

Anyone else got a similar problem? Anyone using it on Vista?

have you tried running it in compatability mode for win xp?

(i have no idea if this will work, but worth a go....)

as fonzi says, the nokia forums will probably have some kind of support threads. i'll bet there are quite a few users who have had the same issues.

Installed version 3.2 and it works.

I posted on the forum.nokia site and the only useful info i got from em was that 3.1 had been released and that Vista wasnt supported.

Oh well with 3.2 installed its working (well its loaded)

Thanks for the help guys

@Dan: That was the first thing i tried ;)
With no change. Seems strange it even exists... I mean why would you need to run stuff using an older OS when you have a newer one...

Noobie here... I installed 3.2 on Vista and it works. Pity the program is the most unfriendly piece of kit i've ever come across. I was even lost following the tutorials and I'm not thick. I've created many SE themes no problems, but the Carbide software isn't for the casual themer, like me. Is there any alternative apart from Ownskin?
