T-Mobile’s Leaked Ad Confirms Project Dark

T-Mobile’s Leaked Ad Confirms Project Dark

Project Dark / Project Black as a new movement to provide their customers with better, faster, and cheaper services, with the addition of the latest mobile devices – including the HTC HD2, Blackberry Storm 2, and Nokia N900. They are releasing a new “Everything Unlimited” plan, that’ll be $50.00 a month for for unlimited voice, SMS, MMS and data. This leaked ad from T-Mobile does two things:
One: Confirms the new Project Dark Campaign is real
Two: Confuses People.

The ad states that they will be providing “Coverage you need , Prices you want & Handsets you crave. Pretty bold statement, but is no doubt backed up by their “Everything Unlimited” plan”, which should be covered with their “Even More” package. But what exactly is “Even More..Plus”? The plus obviously indicates that the customer has to shell out a little extra every month for some special treatment. The question is, how can you get than unlimited? Perhaps the plus will allow for roaming and long distance voice, SMS, MMS, and data. We’ll just have to wait and find out. Sources say that we will receive confirmation of these plans either Sunday or next week.

New Windows Mobile Commercial Fail.. Sort Of

New Windows Mobile Commercial Fail.. Sort Of

Microsoft has released a new commercial to promote their new Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. The commercial features a bunch of “lovable” Microsoft and social applications – well, I think they’re cute-looking. I must admit, I found the commercial is a little confusing. After I saw it, I kind of had a 3-4 second time span where I was trying to put together what I just saw. Perhaps I was over analyzing the storyline.

Here is a brief synopsis of the New Windows Mobile Commercial

Guy (I’ll call him Sam) closes his laptop (Windows OS installed of course)
Windows Applications: “What the heck? Where is Sam going?!”
Microsoft Outlook: “Oi! I was just making tea!..”
Sam: “I’m sorry guys…”
(0:09 seconds) Twitter *creepy voice* : “Where do you think you’re going… Sam….”
Twitter *creepy voice* : “He better not leave…”
Sam: “Don’t worry guys, I was just kidding! I’m taking a mobile version of you guys with me!”
Microsoft Apps: “Yay! Let’s go touch him..”
Twitter: *creepy voice* “I’m gonna get in his trunk… and follow him…”

End Scene

So what does this mean? Windows Mobile allows you to take all of your apps with you (obviously), and Twitter can be creepy (not so obvious).

For simplicity sake, Microsoft called the device the “New Windows Phone for AT&T” – in actuality it is the new AT&T Pure (aka. HTC Touch Diamond 2). I don’t know why they didn’t just call it the AT&T Pure, as it might mislead people to start calling the “Windows Phone” – or perhaps this is Microsoft’s intention. It is kind of like how some Blackberry users think “Blackberry” is the name of the company instead of “Research in Motion (RIM)”.

Perhaps Microsoft should take a lesson from Apple or Nokia when it comes to promoting their mobile products with a commercial.

Did anyone see Microsoft’s Song Smith commercial?

Yikes!

iPhone-Like “Multi-Touch” Mouse by Microsoft

Microsoft is developing a capacitive touch mouse (currently codenamed the Cap Mouse) that features similar functions as the iPhone. The first aspect demonstrated would be the all-important kinetic/flick scrolling feature. This will definitely come in handy when browsing content heavy web pages, and will provide a far more enjoyable and organic experience to the user. The second function demonstrated would be photo-flicking. Users will be able to flick left and right through photo galleries with the swipe of the thumb. When the developers swap mice, you can see pinch-zooming demonstrated on the cool, transparent, spacey looking prototype.

I am quite surprised that Apple did not develop a mouse with these capabilities first – or rather announce or leak information about it. These functions are undeniably “Apple”, but for the first time in a long while, Microsoft has taken what Apple popularized and made it work (usually, its the other way around).

I personally can’t wait to try this little guy out as I love the concept of flicking and pinching.. on a device of course.
