Sprint’s HTC Hero Full Video Review
Despite Noah’s unfortunate experience with Fedex related shipping issue:
Sprint’s HTC Hero Dies in the Hands of FedexHe managed to get another Hero to do this in-depth video review. The HTC Hero is an Google Android powered device to feature HTC’s powerful and stunningly beautiful SenseUI. SenseUI uses various graphical elements from HTC’s successful TouchFlo 3D interface; such as the homescreen clock, weather, and menu UI graphics. Sensu UI also extends Android’s standard 5 panel widget homescreen to 7 panels – allowing for maximum user customization.
The Hero has a 320 x 480 resolution 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen – similar to that of the Apple iPhone. It has a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus (but no flash) and video recording capabilities. A strange rarity to HTC devices would be the presence of a standard 3.5mm headset jack. Honestly, nowadays a standardized headphone jack should be on all devices. Sprint has done a good job in ensuring their HTC variants receive this feature, such as on the Hero and the HTC TouchPro2. The Hero is capable of using a 32GB of extendable memory via MicroSD, but it only comes with a 2GB MicroSD card in the box.
The HTC Hero has been available in Europe since late June of this year. North American Hero owners were forced to use the European variant with lack of NA 3G support. US CDMA carrier Sprint was wise to pick up this prestigious device, and like most CDMA devices, applied a face-lift to the device:

Sprint’s version of the HTC hero is on the left, and the unbranded unlocked version of the original Hero is on the right. Besides the colour differences, the most notable change would be the “chin” – or rather lack there off (see image below). The button placement is more “thumb-friendly” and the trackball is slightly recessed compared to the original Hero.
