The first android phone, of five being released this year on AT&T, is now available- This phone is the Motorola Backflip. The Backflip was showcased at CES 2010 earlier this year and had many people in awe with the peculiar design. The backflip is officially available for $99, after a mail-in rebate and after you sign a two-year contract. The Backflip features quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), tri-band 7.2Mbps HSPA 3G (850/1900/2100 MHz), a 3.1″ HVGA touch-screen display, Android OS 1.5 (but you can upgrade this to 2.1), a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, aGPS, 3.5 mm headphone jack, microSD slot (up to 32GB), full QWERTY “back flipping” keyboard, and Motorola’s MOTOBLUR UI.
There are three features that make this phone special. Hence the name “backflip,” this phone’s keyboard actually flips backwards to close. The keyboard will be on the outside, even after you close the phone! With the peculiar keyboard design, the phone’s camera is also located on the bottom left corner of the keyboard.
The second feature that makes this phone special is that there is a trackpad on the back of the phone. That may be hard to explain, so just check out the picture below.
