Nokia N900 Disassembly

By Jon | Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 | Comments

This video demonstrates the steps and techniques on how to disassemble a Nokia N900. Paul and I spent a portion of the day taking apart the N900. Just a heads up, all of our steps were improved – we’re not afraid to admit that we were very nervous throughout the entire process. We hope that these instructions will help you when you plan on doing miscellaneous N900 DIY fixes or housing changes.

The tools you will need would be a:
* Philips PH0 Screwdriver
* T6 Screwdriver

And a lot of patiences and caution.

For some reason, the screws for the screen required an immense amount of pressure on the screwdriver in order to take them out. To be honest, we thought we were going to puncture the screen!

These are not to official disassembly video. However, the steps are nevertheless effective and efficient in performing the disassembly task. We wish you the best of luck when you choose to disassembly your very own N900!

Note: Disassembling your Nokia N900 will certainly void your warranty. If possible, it would be ideal to take your phone to a Nokia Store or Nokia Care Center.

      The Nokia N900, which we used for a week, runs on Maemo 5, a lightweight version of Debian, one of the major Linux distributions that Nokia chose to Android. An ambitious strategy, even foolhardy for a Nokia is increasingly isolated on the front of the smartphone. But moreover, it was dealing with a telephone, an Internet Tablet or a Pocket PC? The manufacturer of mobile computer speaks and highlights the "extreme speed and unparalleled performance" of its mobile.

      Any chance you'd be willing to let this vide be used in an educational product about the usefulness of disassembly in engineering?

      From your disassembly, do you think there could be anyway to squeeze in the BP-4L from the n97 into the n900. Eg, any plastic areas that could be shaved or removed (stylus holder area etc) to fit in the larger battery?
