Nokia X6 With a Capacitive Touch Screen
Our friends over at Symbian Guru have had the chance to get their mitts on the rather oblongesque Nokia X6. The X6 features a 3.2″ Capacitive screen, don’t worry, you’re not hearing (seeing?) things, the X6 really does feature a capacitive screen. Great news, Nokia are finally moving away from resistive screens, which is music to my ears, literally as the X6 is the first Nokia device to be sold as a “comes with music” exclusive, which means it will come with 1 year of unlimited music from the Nokia Store. Though I can almost hear some screaming out “Oh noez I can’t operate the screen with standard glovezzz”. C’mon, it’s not a big deal and if it is, you can grab a pair of magic gloves that allow you to operate capitative screens by transmitting your bodies electrical current.
Though it’s not all good news I’m afraid, Rita from SG reports that the X6 overall felt rather cheap. BUT there is a chance this particular handset was an early prototype, I hope so. Though the music coming out of the speakers was both loud and clear, which is essential for a phone sold as a music device.
Despite the resistive screen, early reports state that it’s no more responsive than Nokia’s usual resistive screen, I assume this will be greatly improved before it’s release. Otherwise it would be pointless spending the extra money on a capacitive screen if it’s implementation isn’t up to standard. iPhone standard!
