Part 2: Nokia N900 Drop Tests
Hopefully you caught part 1 of our stress tests, if not be sure to checkout the N900 scratch tests.
In part two, we really put the Nokia N900’s build quality to the test. We performed a series of drop tests on three common drop surfaces – grass, gravel and concrete.
Despite being dropped from 6ft on to solid concrete, the N900 survived and is still fully functioning. Though the device did suffer from superficial damage, which was expected. We were a little worried the screen was going to smash but fortunately we were wrong. The only disappointment was how easily the screen and battery cover had scratched. You’ll see the full extent of the damage in the video.
Something to keep in mind is that we had the N900’s built-in camera filming while being dropped. Not only has the N900 survived, but the camera and its all important footage. We were able to import it flawlessly into our computer to include it into the drop test videos during the “N900 Cam” scenes. This definitely demonstrates the build quality and endurance of this phone.
Overall though we’re pleased with how the N900 performed in our tests.
We recommend at least fitting your N900 with a screen protector or InvisibleShield. Though if you’re a little clumsy perhaps even invest in a full body case.
