HTC Hero’s Keyboard Auto Correct Feature

The HTC Hero comes preloaded with a rather advanced auto correcting typing system. The on-screen keyboard, notifications, and display are similar to that of the HTC Touch Pro 2 or Diamond 2 – an interesting commonality between TouchFlo3D 2 and Sense UI no doubt. As you can see, the auto-correct works amazingly well. Not only does it adjust text as you type, but it also provides the user with an array of relevant and commonly misspelled words to choose from. The pro’s would be that the UI appears more visually organized. An arguable con is that it might cause the user to look up quite often as compared to a simple drop down style list of suggested word replacements.

Nokia should definitely implement auto-correction or suggestive words to their 5th edition devices (excluding T9). The resistive, single-touch keyboard for Nokia’s Symbian 5th edition phones take a while to get use to. Even after months of using my 5800 Xpress Music, I cannot help but find myself having slow down after 2, 3, or 7 typos.

Is Auto Correct Necessary?

I believe it definitely is – Auto Correction is a must have for any touch input dependent device. I’ll admit that I personally won’t use it, as I like the idea of “toughening” it out and adapting to the device’s typing system. But for some users, auto-correction will save a bunch of time – not to mention that very important email “wpn’t lpok lke thids”.

Really agree with the Auto Correction to fasten up things a bit. So that there will be no mess and can type such as important emails smoothly. A recommended one!
